10 Popular Posts: Celebrating a Decade of PulseonParenting
I remember a sun-drenched living space and views of Ponderosa Pines from the large picture window. And the quiet. That deafening stillness between hurried bowls of cereal and the afternoon dump of shoes and backpacks on the mud room floor.
I also remember sitting on the kid-tested couch, the same one I’m settled into as I type these words. A couch now with a subtle tear along a back seam and a few loose, straight threads emerging from the seat cushions, a bit worse for wear but as comfy as ever.
Hello, World
And I remember the open laptop screen, the bright white “page” on which I typed the words:
Hello, World!
And clicked “post.”
Just like that, pulseonparenting.com was born.
Ten years to the day my twin boys would have finished high school in the U.S., had we still been there.
Did the world really need another parenting blog? Likely, no. But I wanted to write and, following the sage advice to write what you know, and what I knew was infertility, parenting and medicine, I took the plunge, not realizing I could possibly still be at it ten years later.
Unexpected Inspiration
My twins were eight-years-old and my daughter six when I wrote those two little words and sent them out into cyberspace (do we still call it that anymore?). I’ve followed my nose and my knowledge in pursuit of answers to vexing parenting questions and conundrums, learning as I went and sharing what I learned with readers from across the country. Little did I know that inspiration would also strike thanks to:
an unexpected decision to homeschool
the election of a reality show president
a global pandemic
and a move to the other side of the world
It’s been quite the ride.
To celebrate this ride, here are 10 Popular Posts celebrating a decade of PulseonParenting. The list is curated from “hits,” and feedback on social media, by email, and through personal messages. And a big heartfelt thank you to all of my readers who keep me inspired and writing. I couldn’t do it without you.
