Twelve Months, Twelve Books
I’m not a fan of New Year’s Resolutions, for two reasons. In the past I have set unrealistic goals (I will never, ever say “@#%&*!” again!) or because I simply forget I made a resolution to begin with (Mommy Brain). This year, however, I came up with a goal, not a random idea as in years past but a pursuit born of something I have wished to accomplish for some time: read more books. My nightstand is perpetually piled with reading material and my reading list expands every time I peruse the book reviews in a magazine or walk through a bookstore. In other words, I read slower than I write!
So, in 2014, my goal is to read a book a month (or twelve books by December 31st) and the ones I read with my daughter’s first grade class don’t count! Also, I will be adding a new page to pulseonparenting.com entitled “Twelve Books in 2014” giving a brief synopsis of each book as I go. Putting my reading out in cyberspace will keep me honest. And keep me reading. Feel free to comment on the books you are familiar with or chose to read yourself!
